Fighting Saints Announce First Signing
St.Clair Shores, MI - The St Clair Shores Fighting Saints are proud to announce their first official signing in team history, Jan Pechek.
Pechek comes to SCS from the Czech Republic after playing the last two seasons in the GMHL, Jr A league in Ontario. Playing for the Kingsville Kings last season he put up huge numbers with a 1.71 GAA and a .971 save percentage while backstopping the Kings to a season that only incurred 3 losses through 42 regular season games. Having experience at the Czech National Team level as well as the professional level in the Czech, Pechek will be looked upon to be a major force in the FHL. Head Coach Dave Debol was ecstatic about the teams first signing, "We couldn't be happier adding a goalie of Jan's caliber. I had the chance to watch him play numerous times in Kingsville last season and was immediately impressed by his play. He is technically sound in net and has the ability to win a team games."
For Pechek this is the opportunity he has been waiting for to continue his career at the professional level while staying in North America. "I want to be in North America and help my team any way I can. I have enjoyed my last two seasons with the Seguin Huskies and Kingsville Kings and feel that I am more than prepared for this next step. I was lucky to be able to watch a couple FHL playoff games last season and I would compare the level to he Czech 1 Liga. I couldn't be more happy to be a part of the team in St Clair Shores."
The Fighting Saints will take to the ice in late October and will continue to announce signings in the comings weeks. Be sure to check back for all up to date news.
